Bonzo was a fictional character created by British artist George Studdy
in the early 1920s. He was a chubby little white puppy having one black ear,
one white ear, sparse black spots, a stubby tail and big blue eyes.
Bonzo appeared on posters, in films and on stage. Merchandise of all
descriptions was made in his likeness. Not to be an exception were the
highly detailed tin antique chocolate molds manufactured by the German
company of Anton Reiche. The molded chocolate figures of the famous puppy
in various poses were always in great demand and were enjoyed by children
and adults. Bonzo may have lost his immense following in 2005, but the whimsical
antique chocolate molds are still highly sought after.
Proceeds will go to the Katrina Animal Rescue Fund. In response to the
devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina,
IFAW
has sent a 78-foot mobile disaster-relief and response unit to rescue
animal victims of the hurricane. IFAW rescue teams are going door to door
in flooded areas to find animal survivors and reunite them with their owners,
as well as coordi-nating local shelter efforts for rescued pets. Please help
us keep their rescue teams on the ground for as long as it takes by making a
bid on "BONZO". Their entire relief effort
is funded by your contributions. When people have lost everything andyou reunite
them with their pets, it makes such a tremendous difference in their lives.
